It's time to turn your company around. The secret to technology success, which seems easier said than done in practice, is to have a well thought out technology-marketing execution plan.
If the two core sides of your business are in-sync, your sales team and your engineering team will be successful and able to leverage each other. When I go into companies, without a doubt, almost 100% of the time they are not delivering on their technology, or their sales and most likely both. They are unable to show me a good 'technology roadmap' - not a to do list, and not a bug or customer request list either.
The good news is that if you are finding that your technology team 'isn't listening to you' or 'unable to deliver' I have a tested method to create what I call a TMXP a Technology Marketing Execution Plan ™
Typically, over a course of about a week, we are able to create a technology marketing execution plan, that plans out how your technology will be developed over a period of 1-3 years, and how this syncs with your strategy - something that your marketing team can plan for. With a concrete action plan, the technology and marketing teams will be focused on the correct actions, and aligned, improving business performance.
It doesn't take long to work with the senior management, marketing and technical teams to get them all on the same page.
Quite frankly, they all usually know what to do, but just haven't had the time to 'put it together'. The TMXP workshop week that I conduct provides them the planning and thinking time to think more broadly and more cross-functionally.
Of course, in other cases there are real issues to resolve and my experience in software and technology management can provide insight to your company on how to solve the issues - be it technology, or people.
A typical agenda for a TMXP week will look something like this:
If you are struggling to get your technology team to be more aligned with your goals and objectives, let's talk.
